« Last post by kyleparkercunningham on February 17, 2021, 08:56:18 AM »
Hi All,

Starting this thread to keep track of all my testing content for the D4 Bipod John made and Jeannie and I are testing.

I'll start with a link to a video on how I'm currently rigging the bipod.

Much more testing to follow in the coming weeks, I'll keep this updated as I go.

Thank You,
Kyle

A5/D4 Open Source Designs / Jannu portaledge/tent combo

Attached are some design files for a tent that can be integrated with a portaledge, so for long wall routes, that might require a further several days from top of big wall to summit of peak, it could be advantageous to allow the tent to be used separately, as high winds would be expected and a portaledge fly only works well with a portaledge.

I built a few prototypes and some were taken on expeditions, but never used fully on a complete remote big wall ascent where there would be need for a tool like this, for example the yet-to-be-done alpine big wall ascent of the big face on Jannu.

Ok I have an idea.. SEE Photo.

I've looked and considered many metal and plastic 'eye' type connectors. Nothing really jumped out at me as obvious/ good for the purpose.
Entre some more sewing.

Simple 50mm binding webbing (Thin), or could use thicker webbing. Folded and stitched enough to locate the tent pole end.

I plan to sew this onto the stem stitch on the ledges base. I'll post more when I have done so...

I too have considered using "whoopie slings" for suspension straps. I have used these on many highlines and climbing rigs.

To quote Jasper
Quote
you can't adjust the ledge while loading it because of the whoopie slings
Once loaded a whoopie sling is NOT adjustable.

I do like the idea but the lack in ease of adjusting once weighted is a major con, more thought is required to make this system ergonomically friendly.
